Why He Chose Contacts Over Sexy Specs

I recently picked up my new glasses. The old ones were horribly scratched, made seeing a bit difficult.

While the gal adjusted my frames to fit, a twenty-something man sauntered to the lobby. He flopped down in a chair.

One of the employees asked, "Can I help you with anything?"

He stood and swaggered to her desk then plopped down in the chair. "He said I need to get glasses."

Okay, then. The clear tone and body language translation was "I don't see why I need glasses. I really don't want them. I was perfectly fine before, but the doc I guess I have to."

He shoved a pout on his face and rolled his eyes.

The gal looked at the script. "So you're wearing contacts?"

Uh-huh...her raised eyebrows and tone said: "This script indicates you have a real vision problem, dude."

"I've worn contacts for as long as I can remember and they've worked out just fine for me. I've never needed glasses before." He looked at himself in the mirror, tipped his head sided to side and smiled.

Sooooo Mr. Vanity didn't want to spoil his looks with sexy specs.

The employee pasted a fake smile on her face. "So what if you got pink-eye or lost one of your contacts? You know, having contacts in every day could harm your eyes."

He smoothed his fingers through his hair. "I'll be fine." He stood.

She walked him over to the least expensive glasses. "You might be interested in these."

"Yeah, since I won't be wearing them."

I watched him try on a pair and toss them back down. He snatched another pair and plunked them on then tossed them too. Soon a pile formed. He pulled one of the pairs out and dropped it on the employee's desk. "I guess I'll take these."

Yep. Mr. Vanity spent a whopping $49 on glasses he will never wear.

I wondered what was so important to me that I would ignore reason and logic. What would keep me from from thinking God's way?
